Photography Books

In an effort to raise fund for the upcoming wedding, we've decided to self publish and sell some of our photographs in book form. We actually found a really fantastic website that has made the process very easy and almost painless. Please check out the website here. All the funds from the sale of our books will go towards our super fantastic wedding. Check back for updates as we will be putting up new books as we continue to shoot.

Thank you!

mostly about hansel and lily our cats

This blog is dedicated to those furry little ones who keep us on our toes and bring joy to our days. This will also serve as a pictoral introduction to our family...aka the kids, our cats.

here's Hansel
this is hansel as a kitten

These are a few of the pictures I have of my oldest cat RIP Z

Hansel and Z enjoying a nice fall day.

In Z's passing brought sadness to the whole household including Hansel. So we decided to adopted a few new family members for us and Hansel.

Here's a picture of Lilly one of the first few days we had her. She's about 4 weeks old; we think

Lilly's about 3 months old below

Below is Hex....she's part siamese and very vocal and weird. This pictures sums her up perfectly....

And then there's Zander.......he's my (tim) cat; Kay tolerates him. There's no picture of him because he's too big. But seriously he is a big cat; I didn't say fat, I said big boned. And neither one of us have a good picture of him. But he's big and black. He's Hex's brother.

Here are a few more recent pictures of the kids.

With that said it's late on the east coast and it looks like lilly has the right idea..................

We need a new lamp...

so we all have that favorite item in our houses/apts; mine happened to be an Ikea lamp (see picture below). well very long story short we got Lilly was 5 weeks old and she used to climb on said lamp without hurting it and it was cute. Well as Lilly got older she gained weight and she realized she has claws. Well the old saying the older you get the wiser you get does not apply to cats because one day i got a picture and a video message on my phone from Kay. There are several things wrong with this last sentences. First I own a phone that i can receive video messages from another phone; we can invent phones that take, send and receive video messages but we can not cure various cancers; oh sorry I digressed. But the other thing wrong is that my poor lamp had been found beaten nearly half to death. I know this because I have pictorial and video evidence. After arriving back to my residence I examined the crime scene myself. I inspected everything and reached the decision that the lamp is completely fine. The picture and video was a joke. The light still worked; it may be in 3 or more pieces but it works. Look at the pictures below and you'll see what i found.

Red Maple Leaves...

There are a couple of different types Maple Trees apparently lol. One of the houses by our apartment has a red maple tree in the yard. As the leaves mature, the go from a dark green to a deep reddish brown. So I'm going to probably incorporate these types of leaves into the center pieces too :)

Here's a picture..

I'll post pictures of my test roses as soon as I have them done..

No boring wedding cake for us!

We love cupcakes. Really. I mean look how Tim proposed :)

So instead of having the traditional wedding cake, we are going to do a cupcake wedding cake, or also know as a cupcake tree. Here's some pictures of the popular cupcake wedding cake..

We thought we were completely original in the idea, but I guess Martha Stewart went over the topic way back in 2003! Lol..

We are going to try and do a different twist on the good old cupcake tree. One of my friends is very crafty and is going to try and make us something similar to this...

Hope everyone loves cupcakes as much as we do!

Centerpiece Idea!

So I found a website that shows you how to make Roses out of Maple leaves. What a unique and cool (read cheap) idea! I'm going to test it out on some green maple leaves soon. That way I can see how long it takes me to do them, and most importantly how they will ship. If things work out, when the fall color change happens, I'll be able to get a bunch of nice different colored leaves to use as centerpieces.

Here's some pictures :)

More Flower Ideas..

So I talked to a couple of florists that would actually give me some feed back today (FINALLY!!) and it seems like a few of the flowers I was originally going for are not going to be in season or very hard to find in Sept. So I've been looking for other ideas and here are the flowers I've found that I like...

Orange Ranunculus

Orange Gerber Daisy

I also found a website that has all the flowers I like, plus more that I've found, that sells the flowers in bulk. I could essentially order all the flowers I want, and make the bouquets, etc myself. (I worked at a florists briefly when I was in high school and according to them I have a natural talent for it.) And any extra flowers can be used for the cake or any center pieces. I'm still going to wait and see what kind of quote I can get from the florists I've been speaking to, so we will see. Thank heavens I have a year left to finalize all this :)

Location: The Farm at South Mountain

So we picked our location. We of course still need to finalize things and of course reserve the date and what not. At least we have a fairly long time to do everything in :)

The Farm at South Mountain

This is where the ceremony would be held..

I found out about The Farm when I was working at Ritz Camera. A couple came in to get reprints made of their wedding and I was really impressed with the pictures. They were so pretty! I asked them were they got married, thinking it was somewhere on the east coast because it certainly did not look like your typical Arizona wedding. The woman replied, "No it was here in AZ! It's this little place called The Farm at South Mountain, it was wonderful.." It always stuck in my head.

Fast forward a few months and when my friend Brianne and I went to scout out a potential spot to shoot portraits, and needless to say we both fell in love with the location. I always told myself if I was every lucky enough to find someone that would ask me to marry him, this would be the place.

I've posted some of the pictures I took while we were there.

Flower ideas...

I've been using the wonderful Google Image search and I think I've narrowed down the flowers that will play part in the Bridal party. I still need to talk to some florists (which it turns out I'm having a hard time with seeing as I am in MA and the wedding is going to be in AZ) and see what is realistic for the season, etc. But anyway, here are the flowers...

Orange or Mango Calla's (for my bouquet and Tim's boutonniere)

Chocolate Cosmos (for my bouquet, the grooms men's boutonniere and the rest of the bridal party)

Orange Dahlia's (for the bridal party's bouquets)

Let me know what you think :)

Bridesmaid, Junior Bridesmaid, and flower girl dresses

I think I've picked the dresses for the bridal party. Here's some fantastic linkage because the website is all flash lol:

Bridesmaid Dress in Truffle

Junior Bridesmaid Dress in Truffle

Flower Girls Dresses in White and Truffle

So we decided to just go with the classic Truffle color for all the dresses. And besides with the persimmon gown, there wasn't really anyway to tie that one in with the other dresses. And the bouquets I have in mind will add some really lovely color to the entire party :)

The Ever Elusive Dress...

I've been looking online for wedding dresses and I've come to the conclusion that there are far too many options. And sadly a lot of them are just.... too much. I want simple and elegant and not too frou frou. I'm not a frou frou kind of girl.

I did find a dress that I absolutely adore which is in the picture below.

I have two other options that I've found and I like, but we all know it's going to be the actual trying on that decides which dress it is. Now on to decide the multitude of other nuances that involves planning a wedding.

Theme...

We've decided on a theme! Based on the fact that we are on the east coast and we both absolutely love the season changes here, we've decided on an Autumn themed wedding. Plus the location we are considering is going to be an outdoor location.

I'll post some inspirational pictures as soon as the website is working right. Lol.

Save the Date!

So based on the fact that the wedding will be held in Arizona and that we both work retail, we decided that it would be best to have the wedding sometime in the future. That way out of town family has enough notice of the date and location, we can make sure that we have enough time off necessary, and we have enough time to plan.

The tentative date is going to be September 26th, 2009.

We will be sending out formal "Save the Date" cards within the next month.

We're Engaged!

Hi all!

I just created this blog so check back frequently for updates. I figured it would be fun to update this as the wedding planning goes along. I'll also update with pictures and other fun stuff as time allows. But for now here's a picture of the cupcake Tim gave me :)

And trust me, I'm as surprised as you all are!
